Bentley is a much-loved family pet

The owners of a large English Bulldog that vanished during a walk are offering a reward of £1,000 for information that leads to him being found.

Tri-colour Bentley weighs 30kg and is extremely friendly and a much-loved family pet.

He vanished during a walk around Walton Lake in the Ouzel Valley Park on Thursday lunchtime and there has been no sighting of him since.

His devastated owners Zak and Jo Kightley have spent countless hours searching for him and thermal imaging drones have even been used. Local dog walkers have also joined in the search and shared his details on social media.

Dog Squad MK is tomorrow (Tuesday) hoping to arrange a sniffer dog to search the area, which has large amounts of dense undergrowth and bushes.

Bentley, who is three, was being walked by his usual dog walker when he went missing. She has been walking him since he was a puppy while Zac and Jo are at work.

"She had him and a couple of other dogs off lead, as normal. She bent down to clip another dog back onto the lead and when she stood up again Bentley had disappeared,” said Zac.

"He sometimes runs off after something but he always comes back. We think he is either on the run and in survival mode, or trapped somewhere – or someone has taken him.”

If the latter scenario is the case, then the family want to make Bentley too hot to handle and are urging people to share his details and his photograph.

They describe him as “hefty”, even for an English Bulldog, and he has the usual black tan and white markings with ginger ‘eyebrows’ and a black and tan face. There is no white on his face. He is wearing a strappy silver/light grey harness with a label from ‘Bully Billows’.

Zac and Jo have two daughters who are distraught and have even made a TikTok page showing videos of him in a bid to get him returned.

Anybody who sees Bentley, or has spotted someone suddenly acquiring or selling an identical dog, should call Zac immediately on 07784 381142 or email [email protected].
