Heart transplant Hayden hits the right note
Hayden’s debut single comes out later this week and he will be performing live at Heartswitch, a charity fund-raising event in aid of Harefield Hospital, at thecentremk on May 26.
It’s a remarkable return to form for the teenager whose life and burgeoning signing career was stopped in its tracks when, in Christmas 2009, the then 19-year-old suffered from a devastating virus which destroyed his heart. His future was put on hold while doctors at Harefield Hospital battled to save the teenager’s life and four months later he underwent a successful heart transplant.

Katy and Simon Shorten, professional performers in West End musicals acted as voice coaches while Hayden composed, taught himself to play a number of instruments (including a £35,000 custom-made guitar), recorded and then performed at Heartswitch in Aylesbury last year - a charity event he helped organise with fellow transplant patient, Reena Patalay, to raise awareness of organ donation and funds for the Harefield Hospital Charitable Trust.
His father, Tim, said: “Hayden has been working with some of the best. His debut single, “When you fell” has been produced by the highly respected composer, performer and producer, Peter John Vettese while it has been engineered by another internationally acclaimed producer, Joshua Blair. Peter’s first professional gig was as the keyboardist for Jethro Tull, and since then Peter has worked with a number of top international stars including The Bee Gees, Annie Lennox and Melanie C.
“Any proceeds from the downloads and airplay will go to the charity. Hayden has composed sufficient material for a debut album which is anticipated to be released later in the year.
“For now the single is both his introduction to a wider audience and a promotion for Heartswitch 2012 at which Hayden will be performing alongside other acts.”
