Former Milton Keynes schoolgirl and her family are found brutally murdered after kidnap

Hybrecht Brand, known as Breggie, went missing from her rural smallholding near Hartswater on Monday along with husband Daniel and her daughter Elizabeth.

She was educated at The Grove Independent School in MK and later moved to South Africa.

Police found bloodstains in the family's house, which had been ransacked, and two of the family's cars missing.

They believe the family was kidnapped by a gang of robbers, who stole cash and jewellery, and driven out to the wilds to the murdered.

The body of Elizabeth, who was 53, was found yesterday (Tuesday) morning, in a location 30 minutes away from the farm. One of the missing cars was found nearby.

Later the same day police found the bodies of her parents in countryside 40 minutes away from the farm. It is understood Elizabeth had gone to visit them on Sunday for lunch.

Hybrecht, 73, and Daniel, who was 82, ran a water production scheme on their farm, which is in the Northern Cape.

Four people have now been arrested in connection with the murders. They include a 42-year-old woman, two males ages 18 and 19 and another suspect aged 20.

A spokesman for Afriforum, a pressure group highlighting the murders of those on farms and smallholdings, told the Mail Online that concerned relatives had reported to police on Sunday that they could not contact the family.

Marius Muller has called on South African President Cyril Ramaphosa to 'wake up' to the killings.

He said: "The fears of relatives that all three had come to harm was reported to the local police station on Sunday but it appears that absolutely nothing was done about it. It was only when those worried relatives travelled down on Monday themselves that they found effectively a crime scene with the house ransacked and the blood stains inside."
