The funding was secured by Loughton and Shenley ward councillor Zoe Nolan.
She said: “I’m delighted to see the Council include funding for this important local project in its budget.”
“Being a new city it’s important we maintain our local landmarks as we grow and they become part of our community’s local history and identity. This funding will ensure the obelisk can continue to stand tall and be enjoyed.”
